President Barroso signs the Paddle for Life with Liz Lynne MEP and David Train in Strasbourg.
"Last week Liz contacted me and I was delighted to hear that she had inspired President Barroso
to sign the Paddles for Life at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
I was even more delighted to learn that the paddle signing would take place in the Winston Churchill
Building.
The Paddle for Life is the symbol and first step of a set of ideas to inspire people at all levels of
society, throughout the world,on board and working together to solve the world's latest and greatest
threat. I am sure that Winston Churchill would have been delighted to have played his part in
inspiring other world leaders to take in this greatest of all battles for the survival of civilisation.
When I was with President Barroso, he grasped the paddle and held it high.
In my imagination I thought of Churchill, as President of Europe, and at the heart of Europe, paddle
in one hand, his other spelling outhis "V" for victory sign, inspiring people and leaders across the
worldto leap on board to fight in the battle".
