All Bell Boat Helms are qualified as follows:

• British Canoe Union Certified National Bell Boat Helm Award or Placid Water Coach.
• First Aid trained to Nationally recognised standards. Comprehensive training over 8 hours is undertaken.

Prior to the start of each course the helm will take all participants through basic river safety, hygeine and technique for paddling. All participants will have bouyancy aids checked for secure fitting prior to launch.

All Schools and Youth Groups will need to adopt their own policies regarding, parental information in advance of the course, emergency procedures and relevant insurance. Parents, Guardians and Carers should be asked in advance of the trip whether any participant has any special considerations that the group should be aware of.
